Three weeks ago we added a new employee to our team. But he had no name.
It’s a funny thing though. I kind of knew his name all along. My husband, Richard, took some convincing… now he’s fully on board! (And he played a key role in figuring out his last name.)
Meet Jack:
Jack Blue to be more specific. (And when we’re feeling really chummy, he’s JB.)
Jack’s been learning the trade since we first introduced him to you. And he’s acquired some great skills. Things like swatting at the cursor on our computer screens. Stealing our chairs the minute we get up. He makes a pretty good paper weight too.
And then of course, there’s the thing he does best:
He’s pretty great at power naps… while still expecting his hourly rate.
Not a bad idea!
Oh! and a very special thanks to all of you who gave us some great ideas for names! We loved every single one of them. You guys are amazingly creative.

Hi T
Jack Blue – brilliant.
Not gone for Jack….. Sparrow as in Captain Jack Sparrow. LOL
A little more info about Jack please T.
Is he a lap cat?
Does he talk much?
Does he come to you or your hubby?
Let’s have the full SP.

Hi Keith—
Oh we love Captain Jack Sparrow!
About Jack Blue…
He’s super smart and alert. Very inquisitive. He loves everyone he meets. This little guy will never meet a stranger. He’s a total lap cat. He’s figured out what good boy means. Our bird Charlie’s not too sure about him, though. Jack tried to leap and catch him mid-flight. Now Jack’s learning the word ‘no’.
He gives a kiss on request. It’s true. Even our adult female cat Morgan (she’s 11) likes him. Now that’s an accomplishment.
He’s either sleeping or bounding everywhere with great enthusiasm. So far he’s pretty camera shy. Getting those pics was a challenge. And yes, he’s learning to come when we call. And does he talk!
He hasn’t learned his name yet though. With time…
Thanks for asking:)

btw – Is twitter on the horizon for you next? I popped over to your about page (actually I’ve checked a couple of times since you mentioned you would do this) and you’ve posted photos! Very handsome and debonair you are. Nice to know a little about where you’re from too. I even googled Solihull in the West Midlands!

Great info about Captain Jack.
And he’s a lap cat – fantastic.
All my best lap cats have been males, weird.
Cats and birds!
A word to the wise on this one T – cats and birds don’t mix. LOL
The about page was just something that never got finished.
Once I started writing posts, the comments took off and I never got back to sorting it.
My daughter is down from university so we went out for the day and we took a few photos – she is very good to her old dad.
Twitter – possibly but don’t tell Mel, I want to surprise her.
Solihull?
Very posh place – I’m not local but the locals look down their noses at anyone who pronounces is with the wrong sort of O.
My wife is local and she has coached me on the correct pronunciation for the last 10 years or so.
What’s the old saying?
“She married beneath herself… all women do.”
Do me a small favour T.
Randy Cantrell is sort of signing off from his post on easyP.
Please call by and let him know how much you’ve enjoyed listening to him.
What a great guy.
Have a good weekend T and give Captain Jack a snuggle from me.

Hello, Jack Blue!
At long last, you finally have a name. And don’t worry too much if you can’t remember it sometimes. There are times I can’t remember what day it is! And anyway, the only time you really need to know your name is … dinner time.
Your mom is a wonderful person. So please don’t fall asleep on her keyboard, okay? We would miss her dearly if she wasn’t able to blog.
Your cat-loving pal, Keith, is considering opening a Twitter account (he wants to surprise me so don’t mention it, all right?). Do you think he should do it? Not to sway your opinion, but please bear in mind the logo for Twitter is a “Bird” and he’ll be “Tweeting” a lot.
Have a relaxing and pampered weekend!

Hi Melanie –
This is so clever. Writing a comment to Jack. And I’ll tell you what… he LOVED it. He told me it was about time someone talked to him rather than about him!
He also thinks (and asked me to tell you) that Keith absolutely needs a twitter account. Jack didn’t realize that bit about the bird… and boy does he like birds! He can’t wait to hear Keith tweet.
And Jack says he can’t wait to meet you. He loves you already.

Derek – We’re starting to think you’re part of the family! And we are the lucky ones. That was so cool you got to meet Jack today. Thanks for your help on everything.

Oh to be a cat. Mine is also a master of the power nap. Must be nice…I can’t even get a normal night’s sleep!
I think Jack’s just beginning to realize how wonderful a thing it is to be a cat around here. Two people who work at home? Heaven. He’ll never know what it means to wander around an empty house during the day.
What’s your cat’s name Eugene? And is (he?) thrilled to have you around more?
