Let’s assume for a minute that you’re in business to make money

As I wondered what I felt like writing about his morning, I looked up and saw the sign that sits on my bookcase…

“Let’s assume for a minute that you’re in business to make money”

You know what?

Hobbies cost money.

Businesses make money.

If you’re giving something away for free, are you undervaluing your worth by doing so? Charging too little? Is there a method to your madness? No?

If this is a struggle well then, yes, you will have to assume for a minute.

Try this…

“OK, so I am in business to make money… how am I going to go about it?”

Have a deep, subconscious belief in your worth. You bring a lot to the table. Your time is valuable.

It gets better with practice.

Your turn! What does this mean to you?

Hi Theresa,

Great point. Often times we “forget” that we’re in business to make money and we get caught up in busy work. The thing to do is ask yourself, “is what I’m doing now the best thing I can be doing to move my business forward?” While the best thing may not be making money at that particular moment, it could still be moving your business forward so it can make money!

Hi Deb,

I agree! And in many ways, I’m not really talking about the money at all. I’m talking about staying connected with your vision so that, as you say so perfectly, you can move your business forward. We forget our own big picture sometimes, what we’re all about — and we get caught up in the busy work. I’m so glad you pointed that out. Thank you. You ask an important question… “is what I’m doing now the best thing I can be doing to move my business forward?” — it’s a great self check to employ when you find yourself stuck, and a great tip!

Thanks for adding to the conversation, Deb, I always appreciate what you have to say. It’s great to hear from you!

Theresa,

You’re talking about a state of mind. I’ve worked hard at pinpointing the beliefs that don’t serve me well. I’ve learned to believe over time that I have something that can make a difference in the world, and that I can help other people.

The money follows.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Michael. I am talking about a state of mind. One where if you believe you can accomplish something, success is inevitable. The key is in understanding your value. Making a difference in the world… what a nice approach!

Thanks for stopping by — you’ve inspired me!
