How To Think & Act Like An Entrepreneur With the Joel Comm Mini Project

by Theresa Bradley-Banta · 2 comments

Starting today I’m launching a new project. I’m calling it the…

“I Mean Business, Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously” project.

I’ll keep writing about how to think like an entrepreneur but I’m going to show you how to act like one. I’ll put my money where my mouth is… (more likely my foot).

Instead of writing a bunch of “How To” articles like everyone else in this saturated niche, (e.g. empowerment, entrepreneurship), I’m going to assign myself projects.

Instead of TALKING about it I’m going to do it and I’ll give y’all my progress reports.

Oh, and I’m going to need some help on some of these…

For example, I can’t quit my job because it’s been 20 years since I’ve had a job. I can’t really ask for a raise either – same reason – but I know some of you really want to know how to do this.

So, I’ll be recruiting volunteers – lol – what an oxymoron! And, I’ll be coaching them through the process, with progress reports for you!

Today I’m going to launch what I call my Joel Comm, twitter dude, mini project”.

First I’ve got to get his book Twitter Power 2.0.

*********

OK… so that wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. My local (really big) bookstore doesn’t have it in stock, and my library doesn’t have it either. Damn! You’re probably wondering why I don’t just order it on Amazon? Because I’m kind of in a little war with them right now ever since they fired me as an affiliate.

*********

Turns out my library does have it after all… well, indirectly. I had to order it via something called Prospector (as in panning for gold)… talk about making Colorado look more backward than it is. Actually it’s not so bad, I mean we have theater and dance here… we’ve also the great Western Stock Show. They actually have a parade right downtown with cows and steers and stuff passing through the high rise buildings.

You’re probably wondering why I’m even getting the book, right? Especially because I have a sort of love / hate relationship with Joel Comm. I mean, jeez I opted out of all of his emails recently because they became one pitch after another. Seriously. He completely quit offering valuable tips and information in his emails… I even wrote this when asked why I was leaving;

“What else are you going to try to sell me, Joel?”

But here’s the really great thing. Joel Comm is 100% responsible for me blogging. I heard him speak at an event – I even had dinner with him that night, although it’s doubtful he remembers – I came home and ta da! I decided to start my blog. (If you’re a blogger, you really get the love/hate thing I’m talking about.)

I’ll always remember him for that. I’ll always remember him for the iFart, too. Thanks Joel.

Here’s why I’m getting his book. Two reasons.

1. I’m planning on learning some technique I can put into action. Joel says I can “Dominate my market one tweet at a time.” Wow, I  can be a dominatrix, how cool is that?

And,

2. I’m going to show you how to contact someone well known, ask them to “mentor” you (my definition of mentoring – stay tuned) and get them to meet you in person.

The challenge is on! Of course, if Joel reads this… he may not like me any more..

While I wait for the book to get to my library, I’ll start a new mini project  — stay tuned for my next post!

And if you want to volunteer for something ( I’ll coach you) or challenge me to do something, drop a comment below!

Oh! If you haven’t done so already, subscribe by email to bigfishtopdogs.com over on the right sidebar of this blog… you’ll be the first to receive new posts hot off the press!

Theresa, Hi!
The Joel Comm book sounds interesting.
Read it and then tell us all about it on your blog! I hate those over the top sales pitches.
If you want a mentor – join the A-List Blogging club. I’ve made some awesome friends through the club. I highly recommend it!

Hi Angela,

Thanks for paying me a visit! I have had mentors all my life and I have mentored others all my life. I believe firmly that as you grow, you change up your mentors. The best entrepreneurs in the world do this. If interested, I write frequently on my blog about finding mentors — (in categories, under mentor). What I’m up to now, is showing others how to do it! Love the referral… Thank You. I’ll check it out.

I’ll keep you posted on the “Joel Comm, twitter dude” project. And, if you have other ideas, would love to hear them! I’m always up for a challenge.

Theresa
