My husband mowed the grass last evening. That’s not unusual. We have a tiny lawn — smaller still now that we’ve turned half of it into a garden. So, it’s not a really big job. What’s inspiring to me is that he went outside later to have a bowl of ice cream and to admire his work. To sit and look at the lawn.
I’ve never seen him do that before.
Maybe he does it all the time and he simply never told me he was doing it.
Was he inspired by a job well done? Or, just taking pleasure in the aesthetics?
How often do you take time to admire your own handiwork? Or the beautiful work of someone else?
Yesterday I changed the theme for this blog. I hope you like the bones of this design by Chris Pearson. I think it’s beautiful. And, I’m inspired to do something I’ve been putting off. Here I am, a graphic designer, with no logo or personal branding on my own blog.
The plumber with the leaky faucet? Not really. I just wasn’t jazzed about how my blog looked. I’ve been through three designs, one of which I actually loathed. So I had no desire to add my own personal touch.
Sometimes you can find inspiration in life’s simple things.
Like a great design created by someone else. Something designed to make your life easier and more beautiful.
Or, by making one little change. Taking one little action step that brings pleasure. Like mowing a lawn.
On Monday I wondered if life was becoming just little bit too repetitive and I wrote about changing your environment to find inspiration.
Today seems like a whole new world.
What can you do today to make a small change to your environment?
