I laugh every time I call our house sitter and part-time marketing assistant, Danielle, on her cell. Most times I get her greeting, “Hey Everybody!”. It’s like Danielle thinks it’s likely, or probable, that everyone (in the whole wide world) could be calling her cell and it always makes me laugh. But, now, after becoming more and more involved with social media, it’s dawned on me that Danielle is operating more from a mindset where she feels globally connected. She does live in a world where everyone is connected, at least those possessing technology or having access to it.
And, what’s even more amazing, is how, although not face to face, we are connecting with friends, strangers, etc. all of whom want to know “What’s happening?” (Twitter), “What are you working on?” (LinkedIn), “What’s on your mind?” (Facebook) and they want you to know the same about them.
How does this change the way we do business? It’s simple… people want to know what interests you, what keeps you busy, what you’re up to, and by the very nature of this connectivity, you are able to tell the world.
