How many times have you decided to begin a new business venture only to see it fade away because your first step was to learn and know every possible thing there was to know? Ever hear of analysis paralysis? We wrote recently about individuals who possess an ability to move from inquiry to decision almost without warning. Here’s the next item in our top ten qualities of an entrepreneur… this quality definitely qualifies as a mindset more than anything.
Entrepreneurs are risk takers
This may be the most misunderstood quality of an entrepreneur. Surely it doesn’t mean a new business venture is doomed to fail or has a likelihood of failing. So what is risk? We believe it can best be summarized by saying that an entrepreneur begins a venture without all the resources being lined up.
Rather than spending their time dreaming about success they lay out a studied course of action, they organize their resources, and distribute the tasks over a network of team with a firm belief in their ability to bounce back if they encounter failure on any particular course of action. A course can always be corrected ‘mid flight’.
If an entrepreneur were to study every potential eventuality to any course of action they’d be sitting at their drawing board in perpetuity…. and never taking action.
Success becomes far more meaningful when it comes at the cost of a surprise education, detours taken, and small setbacks overcome. Bravo!
